Hubert Fay "Bill" Smith JR.

Hubert Fay "Bill" Smith Jr., 79, of Chattanooga died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at a local hospital.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and had been a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. He had been a teacher and coach serving at Lookout Jr. High School, Chattanooga High School, Howard High School, and Notre Dame High School.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ray Smith; and daughters, Carolyn Mae Smith of Copperhill and Rosalie Jane Whitaker of Chattanooga; brother, David B. Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; and sister, Rosalie Jane Still of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 23, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Howard W. Whitaker officiating.

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the West Chapel.
